About the Illustrators

Kyle Hamilton

Squire’s Quest Illustrator
Kyle Hamilton has been a part of this story longer than Pick-A-Path Letters has existed. A childhood friend of Cameron and Jason, Kyle brings the same spirit of adventure to everything he does, which, given his résumé, is a lot.
An accomplished swimmer and tennis player in high school, Kyle is also a gifted linguist, conversational in 3 languages (that he admits to…we think he is being modest because we think it’s more)! During the day, he’s a lawyer by trade, but many nights he spends time practicing and performing with his bands; playing bass, guitar, and the keyboard. He does not do things halfway.
He is also, as it turns out, a gifted illustrator, though that one stayed closer to the heart. Illustrating a children’s story had always been a dream of Kyle’s, so when Cameron and Jason told him about Squire’s Quest, he had to be a part of it and found a way to make it fit into an already full life. He’s glad he did.
Kyle’s artistic style is loose and painterly, which lends itself perfectly to the world of Amberwick. And when it came time to bring Henry to life, Kyle turned to the best models he had available: his own sons. He would put his boys in different poses, crouched, running, reaching for a sword, and sketch from life, making sure Henry’s positions looked like a real kid moves.
Kyle lives in Texas with his wife Ariel, his high school crush whom he reconnected with in college and married shortly after. They have three kids who, unknowingly, helped shape the hero your child is rooting for.
